  • CHANELLE BROWN

    CULTURE AND ENGAGEMENT MANAGER

    Chanelle Brown is a proud Californian, born in Los Angeles and raised in the Bay Area. Her life mission is to empower Black women globally by helping them find their purpose and live their best lives.

    Chanelle is a skilled communications strategist and change agent who is passionate about the intersections between media, policy, and activism. She holds 12 years of marketing communications experience working in both the advertising and public relations fields. She’s led communications departments at non-profits, government offices and companies.

    As a global citizen and activist, Brown is committed to creating change for underserved communities both locally and internationally. In 2014, she worked as an English teacher and consultant in communications and program development at a social enterprise in Dominican Republic. She has served on the inaugural Executive Leadership Team of the International Black Women in Public Policy Institute’s Young Ambassadors Program, Executive Leadership Team of the National Urban League Young Professionals and a board member of other civic engagement and civil rights organizations. When not working, you can find Chanelle at beaches, museums, traveling, giving back to the community, attending concerts and more.

    After joining BGSC as a member of the Founding Chapter in Atlanta, Chanelle became President of the Bay Area chapter. In that role, she was awarded Co-President of the Month and received the national Helping Hand award. Brown has lived in and studied in Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Venezuela and Canada. Within the U.S., she has made New York City, DC, Atlanta and Los Angeles her home. She is a proud alumna of Howard University School of Communications holding a Bachelor of Arts in Telecommunications Management.

  • DELENA CHAPPEL

    CHAPTER SUCCESS MANAGER

    Delena Chappel is an exceptional and proud Philly native with roots in Philadelphia, PA, who found her second home in Birmingham, Alabama during her teenage years. A devoted mother to her son, CJ Jones, a professional basketball athlete, Delena has excelled in the corporate realm of the healthcare industry for over two decades. Her passion for education led her to serve as an esteemed educator at Jefferson State Community College for 13 years, while also contributing her expertise as a Senior Trainer in a medical software company, specializing in medical billing and coding, sales, IT, and system administration.

    In April 2020, Delena joined the Black Girl Social Club and wasted no time in making her mark. She took the initiative to establish and lead the Birmingham, Alabama chapter, which officially launched in July 2020. Her remarkable leadership qualities were duly recognized as she was honored with the Congenital Award and the Leadership Award for her outstanding contributions to the organization.

    Delena's academic journey is equally impressive, as she proudly supported and attended the historic HBCU, Talladega College, for three years. Her dedication paid off as she successfully earned her Bachelors of Science degree in Business Administration and later obtained her Master of Science in Management. Delena Chappel is not only a trailblazer in the corporate healthcare sector and a dedicated leader within the Black Girl Social Club, but she is also deeply connected to women through her passion for the beauty industry. This additional avenue of connection allows her to touch the lives of women in a unique and meaningful way.

    Delena's reverence for women and her family heritage is beautifully exemplified through her tribute to her late grandmother, Amanda Rose. In a heartfelt gesture, she named her own line of lipstick and lip gloss products after her grandmother, honoring her memory and celebrating the legacy of the strong women who came before her.

    This personal touch demonstrates Delena's commitment to empowering and uplifting women, not only through her professional endeavors and community involvement but also through her creative expression in the beauty industry. By intertwining her family history with her entrepreneurial spirit, Delena creates a special bond with her customers and community, fostering a sense of connection and inspiration that goes beyond mere products.
