SHAYLA VARNADO
CHIEF OPERATIONS OFFICER
Shayla Varnado is a serial entrepreneur, and side hustle queen and the founder of Black Girls Wine. At the heart of inspiring others to be courageous, especially women of color, is vision, purpose and creativity. This RVA native doesn’t color in the lines. She’s not new to turning ideas and eureka moments into full pursuits that can be monetized. And what you’ll experience today has been years in the making. In high school she studied writing and performing arts around the way at the Appomattox Regional Governor's School. In college, she earned a bachelor’s degree in Fashion Merchandising. Shayla knew she had found her place in the world as a fashionista and personal stylist. But the life of serial entrepreneur isn’t linear. It’s a jungle gym.
And in 2016, she took a pivotal leap into a new and innovative space, wine entertainment and luxury for black women. Black Girls Wine affectionately known as BGW is a lifestyle brand that celebrates Black girl magic by curating exclusive experiences for women who love wine. When doors were opened, Black Girls Wine Society served over 1,000 Black women, had over 65+ chapters in 19+ cities. While Black Girls Wine Society doors are no longer open, the Black Girls Wine brand continues to grow and the world is taking notice of the fashionista turned winepreneur. All of this while still embracing the fine art of side hustling.
She’s recently launched her own jewelry boutique, Hazel Jane Collection which she will be building in the background while she supports the growth and expansion of BGSC/BE Social. She is truly excited to share her of gift of leadership, passion for operations, and love for sisterhood with our community.

TIA MCCLINE
HR PARTNER
Hello, I'm Tia, the new HR Partner with The Black Girl Social Club—a vibrant, inclusive community built to empower Black women worldwide through sisterhood, collaboration, and connection.
As an army brat raised across borders (yes, German was my first language!), I like to bring a uniquely global perspective to everything I do. I call Middletown Connecticut "home", and I now reside in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. I'm a proud sports mom to my baseball-loving son, balancing the chaos of year-round practices, games, and tournaments—all without missing a beat.
With over nine years of experience in Human Resources, a bachelor’s and MBA in HR Management, and a slew of certifications (PHR, DEI, employee relations and investigations—the list keeps growing), I would like to say I'm a true champion of people. My work as a DEI advocate, mental health ally, and member of The Black in HR reflects my passion for creating spaces where everyone feels seen, valued, and heard.
When I'm not building connections through my work or cheering on my son, you can find me diving into DIY projects, planning unforgettable parties, or curating my ever-growing vinyl record collection. A self-proclaimed French fry connoisseur, gym enthusiast, and professional journaler, I'm the kind of person who brings energy, laughs, and a welcoming presence to every room I enter.
Described by others as determined, passionate, and always willing to help, I live by the motto that you can never stop learning, hence learning how to throw a curveball so my son can be the best 9u catcher in Alabama. I'm also currently working on yet another certification. I bring my love for personal growth, tech-savviness, and social connection to The Black Girl Social Club and I am thrilled to be part of an organization that uplifts Black women through sisterhood, collaboration, and community.
